Secretariat is great too.

What about sports movies? Cool Runnings, Mighty Ducks, Million Dollar Arm, Happy Gilmore, etc.

Also School of Rock, the Martian (one gory scene in the first couple minutes and then it's fine...it has funny parts but not really a comedy), Coming to America, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Legally Blonde (yes there's some romance but a lot more than that happens), Bruce Almighty (same--some romance but that's not really the main plot).

Does she like animals? Teen DD at that age loved TV shows such as Secrets of the Zoo and the Georgia Aquarium. Is Nimona a bridge too far? DD loves it. We rewatch old favorites like The Great Dictator (very funny).

Would something like Castaway or Love and Monsters be too violent/scary?

Thanks, we've tried most of these, but I'll look into Zombieland and Hot Rod. She liked Pitch Perfect okay, but did not like School of rock at all. Derek Zoolander she found really dumb. I get it, she's hard to please. But there's also a million movies that I've never heard of, so I know there are more out there.

What about stranger things?

Doctor Who isn't particularly funny but it might be worth a try. Watch Episode 1 of Season 5 to see if it might be of interest. The episode is titled The Eleventh Hour.
