This is what happens when soccer is everything and you have a huge fan-base in the city where the final is. everyone without a ticket should have stayed home.
My country is 45 times smaller than Colombia. We win in different sport all the time. Nobody cares anymore or even keeps up.
Can you imagine only having soccer (well, cycling maybe) to look forward to?
My Colombian friends are really quiet today. Let me see if they bring up this lousy behavior. Last time they said they were nicer than the Uruguayans and better educated than the Venezuelans.

Yes it was DeSantis fault. When Trump wins he plans to roundup all these people and put them in camps. South Florida will be much better soon.

Did you see the CopaAmerica -Uruguay vs Colombia game? Right after the game Darwin Núñez and about a dozen Uruguay teammates went into the stands as fans brawled at Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina following Uruguay's 1-0 loss to Colombia in a semifinal. And this is after MORE security and police were on hand for the Copa America event than a typical home game for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers or concerts.

Uruguay players, including Darwin Núñez, noticed an altercation behind the team’s bench and about a dozen or so players then climbed into the stands as the melee continued.

Some players were seen throwing punches before Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers and stadium security restored order after about 10 minutes.

“Obviously when one has your woman, your little child, your father, elderly people you want to go and see if they’re OK,” Suárez said. “Here these things, it’s an image that no one wants to have created but obviously if someone is attacking your family you want to go and defend them. But that doesn’t justify the image that it created. We had to protect our families that were there...Uruguay’s José María Giménez called the situation a “disaster.”

“Our family is in danger,” Giménez told Fox. “We had to get on top of the stands ASAP to rescue our loved ones with babies. ... It’s a disaster because all of the matches are the same. Even if you accept that soccer fans (or South American soccer fans, or Columbian soccer fans) are a whole 'nother level of crazy, it's till incumbent on the organizers to neutralize the crazy with stronger precautions.

Soccer fans are a particular brand of crazy. I was offered free tickets to some games at the World Cup in Brazil and it was an easy pass. I find crowds overwhelming and claustrophobic even at the tamest baseball games.
