We got a minivan when our second was born and never looked back. They are 13 and 16 now and I'm about to get my third minivan. We literally shopped every midsize 3 row SUV this year and the second rows were all cramped. I'm not paying double for a Suburban, and it wouldn't fit in my garage, so we are sticking with the minivan.

We had a Chrysler Town and country minivan for 9 years that never gave us any problems. The only reason we sold it was because the kids had all grown and I was sick of driving something so big when it was usually just me in the car.
Our previous minivan was a Honda Odyssey and we had a lot of issues with that. We owned it about 7 years but the last several months there was some major repair almost every month.

There's slightly more vertical space behind the third row, but the real difference is leg room in the third row. Suburbans have a big flat "trunk" space behind the third row because an adult human can't comfortably sit in the third row. A Sienna will be more comfortable for sitting in the third row, and the space behind it is not as long but is deeper. Fine for storage if you're packing in luggage but maybe not if you're trying to tie up a dog like the PP who brought this up?
