Because society has reprogrammed us to focus on girls, because supposedly they are at a disadvantage, and this has now transformed them to be at an advantage over our poor boys, who are very much at a disadvantage now and being ignored and passed over for things. #savetheboys

I see men who don’t see a need to sweep every day are called “helpless” then a woman who can’t even replace a light switch calling a handy man competent.

Some parents like to be nasty to one kid. My mom was like that. I did really well in college. The difference was getting away from her.

I haven’t noticed this among my family members or friends. My boys are very capable and self-sufficient. What I do see is that in my generation many men feign helplessness so their wives won’t ask much of them. DH is a master of this when it comes to household tasks that he has no interest in. Apparently, his mom asked very little of him growing up because he was the only boy.

A lot of what’s being described here isn’t lack of maturity but lack of life skills. The former is due to the child, the latter is due to the parents.
