Competence seems to be dead in the past decade. Even in mundane workplaces. When I started my career my managers were hypercompetent 60ish women. Now they have retired and been replaced with people at the beginning of their careers who have been promoted far above their skill level because they check a box. Things are falling apart everywhere.
