See, now this is what we Republicans have figured out. Not all, but a good number of the other side would be happy if we just all died. They’d dance on our graves (then wonder later on where all the food, gasoline, and electricity went). When I hear people saying they want Trump to die, what I hear is they want me to die.
I’m sure there are plenty of nasty people on my side too, so let’s not get into that game of pulling out random quotes from strangers. Just suggesting here to keep the death wishes off this board.

I get what you are saying. Republicans, especially those who are Trump fans, identify with him on a very visceral level, much more than they actually admire his presidential skills and abilities. Discussions with actual Trump fans and videos I've seen of interviews with those who go to his rallies indicate that as much as they love him they have no clear understanding of his politics.
Anonymous wrote:President Obama could also be reffed to as “former President Obama,” but the more respected convention is simply “President Obama,” just like President Reagan, President Carter, etc.
Therefore, it was rather ignorant and petty of you, PP, to point out the obvious: trump is not currently the sitting president of the USA.

Nope. You are wrong.
They are referred to as former president x.
Editors and anyone who deals in etiquette knows this.

Sorry not sure what happened to my full post but had written that if you are writing ABOUT a former president you can call them former president X. If you are addressing them directly you call them Mr X.

“In reality, many people ignore this convention and refer to former Presidents as "President Last Name" when they are in settings where nearly everyone would afford them the honor of the title.”
So they are ignoring the proper way of addressing. Got it. Not very conservative.
How pedantic. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anybody refer to PRESIDENT OBAMA as FORMER PRESIDENT OBAMA.

What a weird thing to admit that Republican voters are so manipulable.

Anonymous wrote:Driving south on 95 in VA approaching the NC lline. I found it kind of dumbfounding. First, he's not the president. Aside from that, do the people of that area really feel this way? A lot of them? Are they that thankful for him or are they asking God to help him? I fear the former is it.
I asked myself, why do they feel this way given everything we know about this man? What I came up with is that they really like that he pays attention to them. He speaks directly to them. He says things they can understand and relate to. He doesn't confuse them with a bunch of complicated political and policy details. He calls other people names including calling our current president Crooked Joe even though Biden is clearly going through a sad worsening of dementia and elderly weakness and obviously needs any prayers anyone can muster. That would be somewhat Christian wouldn't it?
Anyway, it's very disheartening to think of the millions of people who find DJT to be a relatable guy and the best hope for our immediate future as a nation. It makes me really sad for our country.
BTW my current preference for the election is a new slate of candidates completely, both sides.
