Metro was great this week, less crowded and faster bc of the return of the automated doors!

Gridlock was awful downtown.

I’ve driven in every day this week with zero issues, but from MD down 16th. I heard VA was awful.

most northbound streets from first through 14th seem to be at a standstill or moving very slowly. helicopters circling.

Biking is more dangerous but health benefits can offset mortality rate.

If you are a regular exerciser who drives, that is far safer.

alas, my home is inside the exclusion zone. an hour+ drive each way where i'd have to take leave vs a 15 min bike ride to take and get my kid from daycare is not really a useful choice. i'm biking but sticking to safer streets even if more out of my way, and being extra vigilant around any erratic cars. also upgraded kiddos helmet to MIPS.

I drove down and while congested, got through just added in 20 mins extra. I would avoid though. I ended up parking car and walking last 1/3 mile to my meeting.

I took the metro and downtown was fine. Empty, even.

A huge mess between the White House all the 3rd St NW - no way around or through it. Avoid downtown by car.

My colleagues from VA said the bridges were a mess this morning. Live in Glover Park and drove the streets to the area west of the WH - zero traffic. They are supposed to start restricting access to roads around the WH at 2pm today. I'm parked in my agency's garage on a restricted access road, but should be able to leave the area.

Reporting from the field, traffic was a breeze. It was equivalent to driving in on a weekend.

Not a problem by bike, but car traffic was all backed up around the convention center.
