They don’t want to and don’t need the money. Also I’m not aware of any D1 pool with the team area space that’s required - you need a pool that backs to parkland or school playgrounds etc. to accommodate all the tents and vendors.

Many times it comes down to parking and not having a sufficient green space/lot/church/school to set up 60+ tents. I know a lot of clubs who would be willing to host, but there is simply no safe place for hundreds of kids to camp out or walk to the pool. Overlee hosted Divisional Relay Carnival, and it was fine for 6 clubs, but no way there is enough room even to rent a parking lot close to it for ASRs.

It is a beautiful facility but not much team area space. The year we had relay carnival there the kids were baking on the tennis courts.

The tough thing with ASR is that teams are arriving at 3pm- the hottest time of day. There are also a LOT more volunteers and swimmers than at B meet which add to the likelihood of a medical emergency.

We had relay carnival at Virginia Run and it was amazing. 10 lanes and a huge, beautiful *air conditioned* clubhouse for the table workers and team staff (and anyone could relax in there to escape the heat.) It was the nicest pool I have seen in NVSL and we have hopped around to different divisions. I have seen crappier country clubs.

Most do not have 10 lanes. Virginia Run is he only one I can think of.

Which pools would actually have enough space for something like this? Does any pool have 10 lanes?

I don't see why they don't charge for spectators, many athletic events charge and admission fee.

Or, the pool that had the most teams entered the previous year should be required to host the next year.

Charge for spectators. Let the host pool keep the $. This is a no brainer. They’d have way more pools lining up to host.

No on charging for entries. Fine for the wealthy pools but not for others.

Either give a bigger benefit to pools that VOLUNTEER to host, like eliminating their dues for a year.

Or require pools with sufficient space (as judged by the league) to host on a rotating basis and start with D1. At the very least, this would greatly reduce the incessant whining by the top div pools about the hosting pools.

So is Rutherford? Someone's got to do it.

Rutherford is a D16 pool. Do you really think they would even notice is ASR was cancelled? The ASRs really only matter to a fraction of NVSL pools. One of those pools should be hosting

This is a big fundraiser for Rutherford if they have sufficient concessions, especially on a day like this.
