Walking is so much better for your joints. I know so many former long distance runners who did serious damage to their knees and hips, to the point where they needed replacements in their 40’s and 50’s.

“Hot Girl Walk is a social media trend popularised on TikTok by influencer Mia Lind in 2021. It consists of a four-mile outdoor walk where participants think affirmations.”

It depends on the person. Some people may be beginners and may be intentionally blending running and walking. Some people may be doing it for a lower-impact workout. Some may have slowed down to talk to a friend. Could be anything ... doesn't mean they miscalculated!

When I'm walking, I get sort of embarrassed. I like to be seen jogging.

Nobody cares what you are doing. They are all wrapped in their own lives or problems.

Apparently, some people do care. Hence OP's post.

OP, I don't know why you care. Nevertheless, maybe they are beginners working their way up to being able to jog for longer distances. Not everyone can jog 10K distances.

My husband runs several miles a day and he alternates jogging with walking. It is purposeful.

+1

It has actually never occurred to me that anyone over the age of like 15 would judge me for walking during a run. I'm not a competition be athlete, just getting exercise.

Sometimes I just go for a walk period and don't run at all.

OP: are you one of those people who started getting outdoors for the first time during lockdowns? I find a lot of people who aren't accustomed to exercising, especially outdoors, just don't have a good grasp on how it all works.

I do it because I am tired and feel like walking.

I would do this during the first three miles. I have no idea what the thing is about three miles but no matter what shape I’m in, the first three miles suck. Taking a walk break helped me get through them mid way and then after three miles I was good for another 7 miles easy.

You don’t admire the pretty sporty gals who are always running by you at a strong clip? They look more vigorous is all.

Anyone who judges you for walking is an ahole (like OP). You shouldn't care what people like that think, they aren't good people.

The entire internet would collapse without senselessly judgey folks. Why would anyone click over to DCUM without it?

Maybe they're trying out a new distance.
