Botox, easier access to better beauty products ie Amazon a hair straightener, more of a focus on exercise and staying fit, sunscreen, not smoking or having second hand smoke exposure, breadth of recipes on the internet for healthier diets, information about health and nutrition more accessible

It’s so weird when you look at a HS yearbook from the 50s and the teens lol like old people.

Looking specifically at my own family the major difference is that my generation takes a lot better care of ourselves in middle age than my parents did. We don't smoke and we drink waaaaaaay less if at all and perhaps most importantly we live active lifestyles where we view exercise as a normal part of everyday life instead of something to be avoided at all costs.

Both my parents became pretty obese in middle age and they viewed it as an inevitable part of life. They also viewed sitting around and doing nothing as what they'd "earned" for working hard when they were younger and neither put any effort into staying active as a way to stay young and healthy.

Although it isn’t equal, less stress and better healthcare. Prenatal care means that epigenetic traits that might have negative effects, vaccines mean a heck of a lot less sickness, our homes tend to be more comfortable (my grandparents grew up dealing with hundred degree days and no air conditioning and 30 below winters with no central heating), and yes less sun, booze and cigarettes.

There's an 18 year old real estate agent in Florida who went viral for saying she doesn't care about using tanning because she'll "just use botox" when she's older.

Teens have always wanted to look older. Not old, but 16 going on 21. Because 21 yr olds have a lot more freedom, they don't really want to be older. They just want all the perks.

It’s because you’re getting older and you think people around you can’t possibly look old because you view them like yourself. Ask kids! They’ll say we all look old!

There is no such thing as “younger style”. Today’s trends will be tomorrow’s old lady’ clothes.

See skinny jeans.

IMO, the biggest reasons are less smoking and use of sunscreen.

I knew a woman who stopped smoking and within a few months her complexion improved dramatically. She looked much younger.

Hair dye is #1

Followed by sunscreen, botox, and other ways to help defeat the aging process

Based on my current own family/friends aging, I would have guessed 80s and 90s. They looked and acted very old compared to people in their 60s/70s today.

Katherine Hepburn was about 73 years old - so, not in her 60’s. And Henry Fonda was about 75 years old. So older - but still not as old as they seemed at the time. I would’ve guessed them in their 80’s! Now Jane Fonda was early 40’s in that movie and she looked great!

They are by far and away fatter though. Gen Z will be the fattest generation in history.

Fat, the natural way to fill the wrinkles!

I will also add that outside of cosmetic procedures, no smoking, less sunscreen, etc. Medical care has also improved a LOT. When you're healthier, you live longer and look better.
