My cat medical boards only at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital when I travel. They are open 24 hours with a vet and technicians on duty. They saved my cat’s life last January. Because my sweet boy is on meds twice a day and 100ml of lactate ringers once/week, he gets excellent care. The regular pet borders are on a different level than pets requiring medical care. I love I can check in on my sweet boy 24 hours/day by phone and tests can be done while he’s there. Medical boarders don’t have 24 hour camera access like regular boarders.

I absolutely love the staff and know he’s safe and in great hands when I’m away. I only purchase special Rx food at Pet Smart.

I pet sit my neighbor’s dog. I don’t have a dog and kind of wanted one but couldn’t commit to having one full time due to other obligations. I just fell into it after the neighbor had a medical emergency. The dog is amazing and I love him. I feel like he’s my dog in a way. He stays with me when they go out of town and now loves me so much. I think finding a neighbor or high school/college student is probably best. Talk to your neighbors, post on Next Door, etc. I know there are more people out there like me! For me it’s the best of both worlds. I get a dog sometimes but don’t have to have one full time and no vet bills!

Most kennels don’t have 24/7 staff and most pet sitters won’t sleep over.

You’re right that’s same as our own vet so we don’t use them, we use a different vet that has their own ER and boarding that have people on site 24 hours daily.
