Mine is 17, firmly she/her, and she doesn’t shave. Occasionally she’ll shave or Nair under her arms, mostly so her antiperspirant will work better and not ball up, but her legs are always lightly hairy.

She did Nair her legs a few times in middle school, but I think once she realized nobody really cared, she stopped bothering. But we’re in a very liberal area of Montgomery County, so I can’t say what the attitudes are like elsewhere.

I’m an adult who doesn’t regularly shave. Sometimes I do if my skin feels super dry or I’m doing something “fancy”

OP again. Do those whose daughters occasionally bother to shave their legs tend to do so when they are dressing up for a special occasion? Or is it just random? Would they go to homecoming dance or prom or a wedding unshaven, for example?

She tried shaving originally. Hated it. She used lotion remover a few times when I told her she needed to wear a dress and shave her legs. But I don't nag her about it anymore and she went to homecoming in a knee-length dress and unshaven. She is very fair skinned and hair is dark. Actually less noticeable from a distance than I expect; but definitely hairy within a short distance!

I’m not a fan of hairy armpits on women, but men don’t shave their armpits and they don’t smell. I mean some do of course, but many don’t.

OP. This is part of my daughter's rationale. At least it was a few years ago when I was asking her more about shaving her legs. Her other reasoning was that she likes her hair.

My tween DD got underarm hair early. She shaved it once with help from me 2 years ago and it never grew back.
Legs she doesn’t care about. She lotions her legs so they don’t like ashy ( she’s AA) big doesn’t care about hair.

My traditionally feminine 15yo also does not shave. She wears skirts and dresses and shorts and I don't think it's that noticable. She probably doesn't feel the pressure to shave as many of her friends do not shave.
