Elie Mystal is good at being cute with his words - but he's wrong about this. VPs are not president material. They're the opposite. They're chosen as VP because they're not threatening.

She can stay on as the new VP. Someone better can be the new presidential candidate.

Strange comment given that current President is a former VP.

That is a weird one.

My sole reservation with Biden dropping out of the race is that we then lose the incumbency advantage and I don’t think there are many, if any, replacement candidates that have won their race. I’m voting for the Democratic candidate regardless because it’s that or a fascist abyss.

The Democratic Party would be incredibly energized by a different candidate.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then stop wasting our time with nonsense.

You guys still don't understand that the age thing is specific to Biden - Trump doesn't present as old and saying that he's only 3 years younger than Biden or whatever isn't helping you.

DP. hate to agree with this, but it's true. It was extremely apparent at the debate last week. Trump clearly has some issues, but the delta to his previous incoherent self is smaller.

"had some issues"

Like every time he opened his mouth, he told a lie? Ya, those are some issues. He is detached from reality, and yet no one is telling the GOP to change its candidate and the corporate media sure aren't banging the drum about it. Why the double standard?

He does present as old when compared to someone else. He's archaic and most his rants are old people nonsense--toilet flow, immigration, ___ again. I'm convinced he's unlikely to actually die in the next four years, but that's not saying much, he is slowing down.

You’re right. People are stupid and don’t recall things that happened two, three, four years ago. Just incredible.

You don't think Trump presents as old? Really? That is some orange shaded lenses you are looking through.

Best case, if Biden wins re-election Harris will be president before 2029. He might as well pass the torch to her now.

He does present as old. The man is 78! That's old regardless of Biden looking and being older. Most people are retired by then.
