Sounds like he thinks he's too cool for school. That and the fact that he's laughing at a presentation on legal compliance during a business meeting (fine to whine about it at a bar to your buddies) are red flags. Keep an eye on this guy's ethics compliance.

Many people are clueless about how they appear to others: their behaviors are not intentional at all, and therefore not meant to undermine you.

You called him out, he answered, it stops there. You cannot control him, but you can control your irrational feelings of anger and insecurity.
