Guys don’t like it sometimes. It freaks them out. just saying from friends experience.

They feel like the donor in waiting.

Women are born with between one and two million eggs. The number decreases until a person stops ovulating and reaches menopause. At that point, fewer than 1,000 remain.

Retrieving and freezing 20 eggs won’t make you reach menopause sooner.

The worst would be undergoing multiple rounds of IVF and later ending up with cancer due to all the hormones. But doctors have lowered the hormone dosages in recent years, so maybe they're not as harmful anymore.

Embryos thaw better because they're 100 cells each and so if one or two cells die during the thawing process, the embryo will can still survive. Meanwhile, eggs consist of a single cell each, so they're much more fragile.

Look up how many eggs you lose naturally every month. You don’t just lose 1. You lose a lot. Your brain stimulates a lot of follicles to start developing but only one reaches maturity. In the egg retrieval process, the goal is to get more than one egg out of that big group (that you were going to lose anyway) to reach maturity.

Also, the egg retrieval process is the exact same whether you’re intending to freeze just your eggs or combining them with sperm to freeze embryos.

No, worst case youve injected yourself with extremely intense hormones that essentially put your body through 20 period cycles over the course of one month. And you're also out 20 eggs that you can no longer conceive naturally with.

Start over with your research bc this is not at all how it works. You also are born with tons of eggs, so this isn’t moving up your menopause age

20 eggs. That’s not many considering the number you start with. At age 30 you have about 120,000 eggs left. At age 35 you have 50,000+ eggs left. 20 isn’t going to make our break you.

I did (failed) IVF when I was 33. 32 eggs were harvested (I was soooooo bloated!). I’m now in my mid 50s and still menstruating. 20 eggs hasn’t shortened my fertile lifespan (and I went on to have 2 children with any medical intervention)

The anti -IVF brigade has ramped up their propaganda.

You should do your own research to verify obviously rather than rely on an anonymous forum. Heard they make you sign a waiver that says they are not responsible for anything that goes wrong in this experimental procedure. You cannot rely on this as your back up plan.

I mean the obvious answer is no, frozen eggs aren't the only thing you need.

I was totally infertile by 35 and not for lack of eggs. Out of nearly 60 eggs retrieved I only got 2 euploid embryos. Then, to top that off, I have recurrent pregnancy loss that is not at all related to egg quality.

So if you were me your frozen eggs would not be worth much. That's assuming you don't have DOR and won't be able to retrieve much like another poster on here.

You can freeze eggs or embryos.

There is a newer technology called vitrification which has enabled a high percentage of eggs to be viable through the freeze and thaw process. Much of the data on egg freezing includes eggs that were frozen with older slow-freeze technology that had significantly reduced outcomes.

Every month a woman has multiple egg follicles that go through development but only the dominant follicle ovulates an egg. In the stimulation cycle all of the multiple follicles that are already naturally present during the cycle can be brought to maturity and collected.

This process doesn’t impact the natural progression of a woman’s fertility.

I suggest meeting with a reproductive endocrinology physician if you want additional information. There are also many excellent podcasts on the topic.

I think people used to go into menopause early in the process of egg retrieval. They have really tailored the dosages and monitor closely, so I don't think this happens anymore.

Their big stat is 40 eggs frozen before 30 give you a 90% chance of a live birth. You will need to find out where you are fertility wise to make the best decision for yourself, but only an RE can help you with that.
