I think the menu sounds lovely and 75% of the way there. I’d add:

apps- watermelon and feta cubes on mini skewers; pita chips and hummus, tzaziki

dinner - chicken (and possibly salmon) skewers; maybe also a rice or orzo salad

dessert - fruit

Fyi you can buy the dips, pitas, skewers and rice at a place like Big Greek Cafe, or they are easy to pre-make.

I’d get chicken kabobs and rice.

Mom to be dislikes seafood of any kind but like the idea of trending more toward Mediterranean - will think about a protein and a grain side of some kind. As far as a meal I though a puff pastry tart (cheese and vegetables) with salad was kind of elevated pizza and a salad which to me is a nice summer meal. Our group is mostly long time (since middle school) friends - and our mothers who are also very close too & trending towards casual as we’ll be catching up too as many are out of town now.

To me, it’s not enough for dinner. Lunch, okay, sure. But for dinner you need something more.

Yeah I think this is a know your audience kind of situation. To me, elevated pizza and salad sounds like a nice menu for a light luncheon, but I would be looking for more substantial fare at a dinner time party that includes cocktails.

Np planning a very similar event right now: where do you recommend Mediterranean catering these days in DMV?

You need a cold sliced filet or something.
