Fever means stay home. Don’t be a jerk and take your sick kid out.

fever in and of itself is only dangerous if your child seems unlike their normal self, however it is a sign of contagion. If the child seems fine and you can ensure they wont be inside with others i would not be concerned.

Any fever means fighting infection. There’s no such thing as low-grade. No kidding Motrin helps it. It’s a strong drug meant to reduce body temperature.

FFS. If your child has a fever please keep them home. Motrin doesn’t keep the virus from spreading to everyone else.

Lean towards no but as another poster said mostly because they arent going to enjoy it and that seems selfish. Let your kid stay home and rest.

However, i would likely send my kid to school in this situation, again depending on the severity (not with a fever) so can understand the question. But bbqs are optional. And covid and flu are both rampant right now.

It's a debate because one parent has to go to work tonight the other doesn't want to miss a BBQ

Seriously no one wants your sick kid at the bbq. It's not only selfish to expose everyone there to your kid's illness. It's selfish to bring a kid that feels crummy out to a bbq.

Low grade fevers don’t need Motrin. Acting fine with runny nose doesn’t need Motrin.

Meh. Idgaf about being around other people, colds are colds and the world doesn’t stop calm down. But the minute that Motrin wears off the kid feels miserable and I’d feel terrible for dragging my kid out when they’d rather be sleeping on the couch.
