Republicans out here telling us they think HIPAA is a joke. You guys don’t know or understand what “aggressive prosecution” is, it just seems to be “average prosecution [of your sacred cows].”
Look, I’m not taking a position on the substance. But what I am telling you is that it’s a political misstep and feeds into the narrative that the Democrats use censorship, misuse of the judicial system, and threats of prison to quell political dissent. I’m not a Republican, either, but I’m not willfully blind like a lot of Democrats are.
A big percentage of the country thinks that Trump was politically prosecuted. I don’t agree, but a lot of people believe this. Now you have the DOJ going after someone who was apparently earnestly trying to blow the whistle on what a lot of voters consider medicalized child abuse? It feeds into the existing narrative, and builds what OP is talking about.
Hyperventilating about how the prosecution is correct legally is useless and not helpful. Biden has a serious problem in how he is perceived and it’s time for Democrats to be realistic about that.

There has to be reasons why Trump is more trusted by the people sampled for this poll, and if people don’t want to discuss the possibilities, they should create their own thread to talk about Trump and republicans.
PP here. You get it. This sort of poll — which I suspect would be widely replicated among swing voters and undecideds in particular — should be ringing all sorts of alarm bells for the Democrats. But those alarm bells aren’t ringing. The reflexive response is instead “but the Republicans,” which entirely misses the point. It’s unhelpful and if anything solidifies the very issue that OP is talking about.
How are the Democrats supposed to handle people who clearly have no grip on reality?

The man has said OUT LOUD, IN FRONT OF CAMERAS that he will be a dictator. He tried to overthrow an election. He has repeatedly said that he wants to fire any federal employee not deemed sufficiently loyal to HIM. He has repeatedly said that he wants to fire military members not deemed sufficiently loyal to HIM. It simply defies logic that anyone with a brain and ears could say that Trump is good for democracy.

Reality here - sorry, we all saw what happened on January 6th. There is nothing even remotely equivalent from Biden.
That’s great; but the people in swing states who responded to the poll disagree with you and that is what is being discussed. There is an entire, separate thread discussing Jan 6.
