I was just in LBI (NJ) last weekend and we didn’t notice any more than an occasional jellyfish (the ocean was freezing, though!).

Wear a full bodysuit. That’s what I do. I even wear socks because once the sting on my ankle swelled so badly.

Where can I go next year that would prevent this or make it very unlikely to happen? Because honestly this is a huge bummer and while we are trying to have fun, it’s a disappointment I don’t want to repeat

Go to Mexico!!! Very few jellyfish and none of these horrendous huge infestations like we get in Rehoboth and the area. Troncones. Ixtapa and other areas are soooooo good you guys- great water, great food.,

Not true. I live in Europe and there are jellyfish issues, but you can't predict. Majour issues at certain beaches in Italy, France, Spain, Croatia. The problem are the poisonous jellyfish, which are now also occurring more frequently in the Mediterranean.

What town are you in, OP? It seems unusual that jellyfish are SO prevalent in NJ already when they don’t seem to be in DE yet.

It would have to be a LOT of jellyfish, and I'd practically be swimming through the curtain of it before I'd enjoy freezing cold water + seaweed + tar (which what North/Mid Atlantic is like in May)
