It's not fine. If she has a 3.4 she's going to need a perfect 4.0 the next two years to get to a 3.8. A 3.8 is needed for a top20 outside of maybe U Chicago. I have scrutinized Scoir for a Big3. The line in the sand (even ED) is about 3.8. Some DCUM posters are seriously out to lunch or haven't had a senior in years.

What efforts to get in T20.

Kids like this ED to Tufts or BU or Wake from our school.

Tufts? Ha ha ha. Never with those grades. My DD was waitlisted with
one B plus over four years. IB Diploma. Leadership, great internships. And waitlisted Wake.

But I’m guessing public school in RD? Right?
If so, apples to oranges.

This is an ED play from private.
The wake ED kids from two privates are typically aiming much higher than they should be (and more often than not successful). Same with Tulane (3.4 ED - admitted) from private.

Stats like this would likely require strategic ED bc RD won’t happen.

Ah no. Top very rigorous private. Wake was probably yield protection. Going to top UC school. Accepted to Wash U regular and others TO. It’s a crap shoot for top achievers. This kid is not likely to be top. Don’t stress her out.

Np. Congrats!
WashU RD is amazing….and TO?!? Any pointy interests or tips?

Just IB Diploma, Editor of Newspaper, two Varsity Sports, Captain of one, internships, good writer so essays probably helped.

Also see if she has ADHD and needs medication. A large percentage of DC private kids are academically coded.

What a world. Need to medicate for B’s. Poor kids.

That PP is very concerned with “academic coding.”

She can go to UCLA. The don’t count Freshman year. But need all A’s going forward. Don’t push your kid beyond capabilities. Doesn’t sound like T-20 kid to be honest.

Same with Emory on freshman year…

Emory isn’t even T20

There is no way on earth she is getting into these schools with a 3.4. Not from evenprivate, not even ED. I have kids at two. The grading is deflated but this is patently false information. Completely false.

This. It is highly unlikely those grades would get a child into schools like Wake or Tufts, unless grades go up from now onward, high sat/act, and high rigor.

Not with a 3.4. Assume she gets that up to a 3.6+?? Otherwise she’s presumably in the bottom 1/2 of the class which doesn’t seem to be what OP is saying?

Applying in August ED to Wake is key — we have seen several 3.5uw get in then….its rolling ED there…..Obv full pay from rigorous private.

Also it depends on the class/cohort. This is all so school dependent.
