If you doubt me, look at the skyrocketing rates of colon cancer and other cancers in people under 40 (and then stfu, because you're probably just trolling anyway).
Colon cancer has increased in under 50 from 8 per 100,000 to 12 per 100,000. That's a 50% increase of a very small number.
Food and diet are driving the increase in obesity worldwide. But race and class are important factors at the individual and societal level.

Canadian here - Gained 40 pounds almost immediately when I moved to the US. My biggest issue is walking. I’m in LA and you can’t walk here. I spend all day in my car and public transportation is awful. Also, there’s way more fast food restaurants. Of course we have fast food in Canada, but there’s just so many more restaurants. Also, I had no self control, so I got fat. Then I went back to living like a ‘canadian’ and tried to walk everywhere and eat healthier, and I lost the weight easily.
