As I stated previously, not every club is the perfect fit. Yes, Valor didn’t work out with other families. Families that left Valor were because their son didn’t get on the 1st or 2nd Team, teammates didn’t take soccer too seriously, may not have liked a coach. Not any different than other club. If it was so bad, then why do so many players return? Bashing another club solely based on hear say from an anonymous forum is comical.

We're one of the localized TSJ teams for the OP's age group. We have had a great experience. Great coach, great parents, kids learned a ton and improved. They didn't play kickball. Oh and we love our field, lol.
The model is good for littles to have better soccer/life balance with less distance to go to practice. Spending less time in a car and more time with homework, sleep, and free time/unstructured play is a solid benefit.

Drawbacks are not every age group is at every location. So player movement eliminates some of the benefits of the model.

You don't get as much exposure to the other coaches unless you guest play.

Honestly FCVA-STJ is on the rise. They’re making some good hires. Once they build their Sterling facility, they’re going to be a force. 5-10 years from know I believe they’ll be the ones to beat. Only drawback though is that if they’re an Academy level player, I think they have to go all the way to Springfield.

But if your son is good enough to be on an a 1st or 2nd Team from your former club, then Challenge won't suffice his needs to further develop his talent.

My son plays for Valor. They're pretty strick with adding players if the teams are full. They like to ensure players get enough game time. 2015B did add a 5th team this year so there should be room. Give them a look if the locality works for yall. The Coach on our top team also purposely holds a spot just in case someone talented moves to the area over the Summer. We've been very happy with Valor.

My friend son plays for TSJFCV. They're changing their stucture and created several localized teams. Because of this they're growing and need the enrollment. Def give them a look too. They're happy with how things are ran.

Best advice, NOVA has a lot of Travel Clubs. Almost too many if you ask me. Don't settle on one just because they have space. Do your research and find one that best suits your need.

Best of luck and welcome to Northern VA.

Yike! Avoid Valor. This is probably posted by a Valor employee. There have been multiple long threads on here complaining about their terrible program.

I'd go this route if you're willing to go travel. I know they've got room for players still and also don't stack teams to the brim on the boys side.

We are moving to the area late summer but missed all the club tryouts. We will also have to decide on Rec soccer before we move.

I'm wondering if it's better to sign my DS (would be u10 this season) up for loudoun challenge Rec soccer instead of trying for club soccer where all of the teams are already formed. It seems like the same amount of practice time and games. Just no tournaments.

For context my son was going to be moved to the A team next year (from B) in the state and club we are leaving. He's a competitive kid and abnormally enjoys soccer.

I've reached out to clubs and they've really been non-responsive so I imagine they are full. I would not be interested in paying thousands for him to be on a C/D team because teams are already formed. Rather him just have fun playing and/or dominate playing challenger if that makes sense

Thoughts or experiences with Loudoun Rec Challenge program?

The lack of response is typical behavior from LS. That should give you am idea on what it's like to deal with then. If club is the goal for the fall, try a smaller organization like Valor, VRSC, PSA, or LFC. Not sure if TSJFC has a boys team in Ashburn for that age group. The smaller clubs are better at responding.
