My spouse is a civil servant and gets the day off.

I am a federal contractor. For my company, it is a floating holiday, we can opt to work or take another day off instead. Normally I work in the lab, but since most of the people that I support are either off today or WFH, I am WFH because I have plenty of work that can be done remotely on my laptop and don't actually need to be in the lab today. About 1/3 of my team is working in the office and the rest are either off or on work travel (we have a major test going on out-of-state today).

Why are you checking email if it’s your day off? Does your company normally expect you to do that?

It's a holiday for us (privately held professional services org) and I worked for about an hour this morning and will probably do another hour at the end of the day. This is somewhat my choice, but yes, I'm getting messages from people for whom this is also a holiday. I'm in a C-suite role so I also work a bit on Saturdays and Sundays so this is as expected for Juneteenth. I don't think it represents a lack of committment to the spirit of the holiday, but work is what it is. It never really stops.

Yes it is a holiday. Yes companies give the day offs. Shut up.

They give the day off so they can say they did or because they follow the Federal Government schedule. And then people work from home. If I weren't working, I'll be completely swamped tomorrow because others are working.

It's a holiday for my husband; it's a regular workday.

At my old workplace, we'd get an email about the significance. Current workplace, nothing. Unless the CEO figures it out around 4 p.m.

I WFH but my company does not have a Holiday for today so it is business as usual.

Me. My employer doesn't give the holiday.

I go through extensive DEI training every year, but the email from the president said "Juneteenth is not a holiday and take PTO if you want to have the day off."

My workplace doesn't care either way as long as I meet my billable hours every year.

Workplace does not treat Columbus, Veterans as holiday. Juneteenth either.
