I just don't understand the need for some parents to look down on kids that made a choice that best fits them. Is it so unbelievable that a kid turns down an offer fro UVA, Cornell or Brown to attend a school that our kid likes more/better fit? I may be crazy, I get it.
My kid decided to study overseas this summer to get advanced credits. Loving the classes and rigor while navigating a foreign country that is not English speaking.
All this being said, my kid has enjoyed/excelled in his time in college. Most of DCUM would laugh at the fact that my kid attends a huge state flagship.
Please be nice. Its OK to have different opinions!

Or a parent whose kid got into the Ivy on academics alone--wasn't recruited since was out with injuries, and then walks on the team and plays for the Ivy. Everyone then is running around saying they only got in due to the sport. Meanwhile, they got into several T10s/20s and the sport was barely mentioned/not coach supported, etc. That drives me insane too. Everyone always wants a reason/justification why their kid didn't get in over another one and they will often make those reasons up without knowing anything about the kid's academic record/scores/outside activities.[/quote]
100% agree, just keep on keeping on. and don't respond to the weird trolls here. I just ignore after learning my lesson and engaging.

DC's friend constantly gets harassed for turning Columbia and Duke down for an LAC.
“Harassed?”
I doubt that.
This just isn’t something people discuss, much less rise to a level of “harassment.” My guess is there’s some weird level of internalization and fantasy at work here if the kid feels “harassed.”

I’mConvinced it’s one crazy poster with a few random hanger ons. All or most not born in this country and with an imported view of what college “should” look like.
