I’m 29 year old woman of color (South Asian heritage), a Democrat, I do not care for her. I think she’s a lightweight who was very obviously chosen because of identity politics and not because she’s a substantively good VP. I would have far preferred Klobuchar or Whitmer.

I'm a fan of Whitmer, Klobuchar is complicated because of her treatment of staff, and Harris is no lightweight.

Just so you know, Biden is a compromise pick of the very diverse Dem coalition. He wasn't my first choice, but he has been an excellent one. Harris is the same.

Ha. No, they don't.

The young WOC that I know can see better than anyone what a fraud she is.

Sorry. Too late. Democrats are stuck with Kamala. He promised a woman of color and that was the criteria for the choice.

All Hakeem has to do is identify as a woman and problem solved.

No one wants the job.

This. VP is a super fake job. You’re on the advising table with the Prez but he can decide whether to rope you in or not. On the off chance the main dude croaks and you gotta step up.
More often than not, the VP is helpful to be at places that the Prez can’t be (eg a fundraiser etc)

Sometimes they also need to step up and stop a coup attempt.

And yet, multiple Republicans are engaging in a reality show to win the role. Go figure.

You pick a VP who will 1-Help you get elected and 2-Do a decent job if called upon to be the President.

What in the hell is so hard about this that the last two have been such total failures?

The last great VP was Joe Biden.

Apparently, not even Obama wanted to endorse Biden even though he was the "last great VP'.

Honest to God, he's dumb as a rock. Graduated 76th in a class of 85 law students from SUNY.

Biden didn't even want to kill Bin Laden when given the chance.

Yes, what's so hard about picking a great VP? You tell me.

Part of Obama’s problem was that, as a leftist, he needed to balance the ticket with someone more moderate. Biden kind of fit the bill, having voted for the Iraq war and pushed various hard line crime bills back when he was a functioning senator. Now it’s so much harder to find anything like a Blue Dog Democrat…they’ve all been wiped out. The bench of candidates that could possibly serve as a Democratic VP and not a person of the left is pretty meager.
