She swims 200 back on Thursday! She’s amazing and we will see a lot more of her in years to come.

Loving watching this with my swimmer! We decided this week that we want to go in 2028 to the Trials.

If Phoebe Bacon makes the team in 200 Back again, there will be 3 Stone Ridge alums on the squad this year! Quite something.

Yes can’t wait! Looks like it could be anyone’s race, between Huske-G. Walsh-Douglass-Manuel.

Speaking of Douglass, how TF does she hold the American records in the 50fr (“splash n dash”) AND the 200br? I can’t think of two more opposite events than these.

I was bummed to not see Lydia Jacoby make this year’s team… she had elected to scratch the 200br after missing in the 100. Her gold medal in Tokyo was one of the best surprises of the Olympics. That was so cool when NBC showed her whole town in Alaska crowded into the HS gym, going absolutely nuts when she got the gold! Hopefully she’ll take some time off and be better than ever in 2028.

I was there Sunday and Monday. It was AMAZING.

(We skipped the men's 800M prelims because I just could not sit through 90 minutes of that.)

The energy at Lucas Oil is something else, maybe a cross between a close NFL playoff game and a huge rock concert.

We sat near a bunch of swimmers' families and friends, and everyone was so lovely. They cheered for their kids' friends and teammates, too.

The food sucked, just like it does at football games.

The only other downside was that it was ungodly hot—110 with the heat index on Monday.

10/10 would go again.

I think she likely will be on that relay, and I personally hope she is! But unlike other events, relays don't HAVE to take the top finishers at trials. That will be decided next week.

The top 4 finishers in the 200 free and 100 free all make the team, with the 3rd and 4th place finishers making it as part of the relays only. They also usually take 2 more swimmers for the relay who generally swim the relay prelims in the place of the fastest 2 swimmers who are also swimming the event individually. I don’t think those 2 swimmers necessarily have to be the 5th and 6th place finishers. USA swimming has already said Gemmell is on the team.

Yes, ASA has one of their swimmers at the Olympic trials.

It would be much more helpful to tell us the swimmer’s name than what club they swam for

Look at the PVS list linked in an earlier post, it has name, club and event(s).

I'm tired of the constant references to the pool being in an NFL stadium. I did find the explanation of how that can affect the backstrokers interesting but otherwise the repetition about the location is boring.

PP. Can you link the article? Would love to read it! I loved watching hunter Armstrong’s comeback from his slip and Carson foster’s redemption. I also loved seeing the 200 free swim off between that pair of youngsters. These trials have been so fun to watch with my swimmer kids, they are all starry eyed at how amazing the athletes are.

Props to Indy for turning a football stadium into a water complex! It looks like a really well run event from everything I’ve seen on social and on TV.
