Why does your hair and head smell? Something is wrong.

Ok, but what about the smell? People around you can smell the grossness.

I don't think hair smells at all. How close are you getting to these women? B.O. smells much worse.

I stand at the conversation distance, close. It smells, and it smells bad. I am also a bit taller than some of my coworkers so I could be above their hair. It's the unwashed hair smell, I know it.

I’ve noticed the hair smell, too, and it’s gross. Admitedly, I have a very strong sense of smell. On the other hand, I’ve spent so much time in my life washing and drying my hair so I can imagine it most very freeing to have that time back.

Hair definitely smells.

Or rather, not the hair, the oily, dirty scalp.

Maybe in the 80s, you were spraying the hell out of your hair and putting in a ton of product, so you had to wash it, but I sure hope you're not doing that now!!

I have always washed my hair every other daybed I also don't use a ton of product.

I don’t wash every day because I like to do a blow-out and I don’t have time every day. After 2 or 3 days it definitely gets greasy, so I can’t go longer than that.

I'm a 41 white woman. I wash 2x a week.

I use Prose shampoo which is $$ (to me) so I don't want to run out quickly.

Your hair get used to it and doesn't get greasy fast.
Day 1: wash
Day 2: dry shampoo, leave it down
Day 3: rinse in shower, dry
Day 4: Pull it up
Wash again

They also didn't workout. The workout changes everything. You MUST wash hair or at list co-wash, rinse after every workout.

What type of hair do you have? I know people who put so much oil in their hair that it always looks greasy; at least, that was my assumption; maybe that is the natural look? But I suppose they like the way it looks.

I ... don't put any oil in my hair? I happen to have psoriasis and my scalp is actually super dry. I take two different medications trying to manage this, and on the scalp it's especially tough because I'm trying to also let my hair look good.

Well, I understand now, you have psoriasis, of course you can't irritate your scalp too much.

OP here, that is what my mom did and then we had to do when girls. I hated it; I begged her to let me wash my hair more since I was a teen. I don't remember how I coped with it before I was a teen.

My mom did that from the 60’s until she died in 2017. Her hair always looked nice.

I only wash my hair every 3 days. It’s fine, colored and prone to dryness. I use dry shampoo if necessary. My hair does not smell.

I have a friend who has only washed her hair once a week for 20 years. She has thick, gorgeous hair and it doesn’t smell.

When I was in high school and in my 20’s, I washed my hair everyday. It damaged it a lot.
