I’m a teacher and even don’t like the end of the year…and most of my student didn’t either. School is where they see their friends, feel happy safe and loved.

We really need year round school!

Oh please. No we don't.

And for most kids, HOME is where they feel happy, safe and loved.

+1. I definitely don’t want year round school! I would probably move to private if that happened and we are not at all private school people!

But if you go year round, you’d have longer breaks at non-holiday times during the year. I’d love 2 weeks off in October! Or whatever the schedule would be.

Yup, it's 6 weeks on, 1 week off.

You get a whole month in December.

You never get burned out, kids or teachers!

You get 6 weeks (usually June-July) in the summer, which is fine.

True for some kids. Others love the time off, enjoying the beach and pool.

I encourage you leave your bubble. For the majority of children in the US, school is where they are fed, loved, and taken care of.

No way! to year round schools.

My kids do feel sad at the end of the school year because they enjoy it so much. (That is really a problem I cannot relate to.)

I’m only sad my kids are getting older. But I love that we don’t have as crazy a schedule, love spending summers adventuring with my guys.

Op, I get it. I definitely feel a little sad when the year is over, generally because they grow so fast! I can feel how fast it’s gonna go.

Agreed…would love year round schools! No, I don’t get sad when school ends, nor when it begins. I don’t understand how you all make it through life challenges with such emotion over every day life. Not trying to be mean but I really can’t imagine having sadness over so much

Yes and no. There is passing moment of kids one year older, but The kids are wiped out, dh and I are wiped out, and by start of June, we’re all so ready for a change of pace. So it’s utter joy that school year ended.

People only get sad if their child enjoys going to school. My girls like learning but stopped liking school once all the middle school mean girl stuff started. They are so glad to be free of the evil for 2 months.

I love summer so I don’t usually, but this year I did feel sad. My youngest just finished 8th grade and I know from experience that high school is this whirlwind where the kids are home less, and less available when they are home, and I am missing him already! The awareness that I will have an empty nest on 4 years stings

Another teacher here. I’m all for year-round school.

I find the end-of-year requirements too frantic. I hate the testing, data close-outs, etc. It’s too rushed and final (when things really aren’t that final). Year-round school could provide more stability.

I do love summer because I get to see my own kids, though. We cram all family stuff into these two months.
