Yes this.

They will all look back at this crazy fake nail trend with the tapping on everything and be mortified. Just like we were with our skinny 90s eyebrows.

Natural is coming back.

99.9% of time have bare fingernails. I do paint my toenails in the summer.

I have lovely natural nails. Almond shape, pink, white edge. I polish them at home only rarely.

Very few of my friends polish their nails. None do the vulgar acrylic nails. That's a very low-class look.

To be fair, acrylics seem to have become very common, especially among younger women. Probably not for the majority DCUM demographic though.

I hate making appointments and sitting through the appointments. It was a real chore for years. So, I stopped and it was AMAZING. I feel free. And, it’s cheaper.

Same. I hate having my nails painted--it's like i feel the extra weight of the polish. I know that's weird. Also, it always chips so fast.

51 year old here and have had bare nailed for almost 30 years now. I do occasionally put a coat or two of polish for special occasions like weddings or graduations. Otherwise I have nothing on my nails. I am a bit clumsy and tend to scratch my nails everywhere. It leaves red streaks on paper, walls or inside of my handbags. So I stopped wearing polish when I was a young professional.

Exactly.

OP doesn’t live in DC. Plenty of people with bare nails here and even those with manicures for the most part don’t have acrylics. And also no one cares. If you want bare nails, keep bare nails.
