My two friends are incredibly successful and went to Wash U. One certainly can do well there. Both partners in top 20 big law firms.
My concern is with the markets the school feeds. Chicago and St Louis are really bleak in terms of their future. Than again, cities like Dallas do take students from Wash U. Markets like Kansas Cit do too. The law firm I have ever engaged is from Kansas City. There is some excellent work in mid size cities. After your first few years, you experience and skill take over. I went to one of the best firms in New York after Georgetown - my adviser said don't pass it up. I am glad my first job was at this firm.And Georgetown barely got me in there - you really had to do well, Wash U - good school but must be thoughtful in obtaining outcomes.
I know these things are anecdotal, but a 44 floor modern skyscraper in St Louis just sold for 2.6 million - just concerned about St Louis as an economic hub going forward. I like St Louis if you can live in the nicer parts and it is a good living.
Chicago biglaw partner here.
No one attending WashU law school stays in STL to practice….and Chicago certainly has a thriving legal market.
3 years in STL is not the doomsday scenario you’ve made it out to be.

Can you elaborate? Meaning they want them to apply because of the GPA and either accepted or denied it benefits them.

This. A lot of law schools, even some T14s, chase students from highly regarded undergrad programs (ivies/+) based on LSAT registration or scores or both.
I’m PP and my kid went to a state U that DCUM turns its nose up to so I don’t think it has anything to do with the school - just high GPA and high LSAT. So they chase high scores but it doesn’t mean much, especially when the applicant is 21 or 22. Age makes a big difference. Cornell did the same. Very U Chicago of them.
