So? A dessert spread would be appropriate. It's not like there will just be one dip and one appetizer.

The good kind, typically known as dives, where they understand the overhead to have food breaks their bottom line. Their regulars are perfectly happy to come drink without food.

One of the people hosting owns the bar. So they're probably bending the rules allowing food

Where I live breweries often sell only packaged food--no kitchen or permit to prepare food--and then have rotating food trucks in their parking lot.
