We are in Division A in MCSL. Warm up at 8, we started at 9, and we were done at 11:30. This is after the relays, and final cheers.

Our A meets are about 3 hours, but we aren't restricted to 1 heat per event (except freestyle).

Our B meets start at 6 and tend to be over by 8:30. Midrange MCSL.

Typically much shorter!

I'd say 2.5 hrs, give or take!

If A meets are around 2.5 hours and they're "much shorter" than B meets, how long are B meets?!? I was assuming those were like 2.5-3 hours long, but are they longer?

You assumed incorrectly.

They tend to be longer mostly because you have more kids swimming and thus more heats. Also, the kids swimming are slower so that adds incremental time to every heat that then accumulates over the meet. Then add in more dq's and and such...

Our B meets drag - usually 4 hrs. I’m envious of the higher divisions that wrap up by 8:30.

So how long are B meets usually, then? Are they 3.5 hours? 4? Longer? What are we in for here?

DP
It depends. Our B meets start at 6:30 pm and are usually done by 9 pm if we have 60 to 70 swimmers and the other team is similar size or smaller. So about 2.5 hours. Others will go longer if they have more swimmers.

+1 to all of this. IME (mid-level MCSL team), A meets are somewhat shorter and far less chaotic than B meets. But that said, some B meets can really drag on, depending on the size of the teams, whether you combine genders for events, how well (or poorly) managed it is, etc.
