You've gotten some surprisingly good responses here, but I'd also post in the MD schools other than MOCO forum - there you're more likely to avoid the "ew, PGCo" crowd that inhabits so much of DCUM.
(And yes, it's intended for public schools, but people there are generally understanding of your situation)

OP, where in PG are you looking what do you value in a school? There are several strong parochial schools. There are a few independent schools in county, but many strong ones bordering the county depending on where in the county you live. PG is large.

It actually makes a lot of sense to live in PG, where the housing is so much cheaper, and send your kids to the private of your choice with the savings. I send my kids to public in PG and I am happy with it, but the calculation in my mind is if I weren't, private school is actually affordable at our income and with our housing cost.

St Jerome Academy (SJA) in Hyattsvile heard great things about and may feed to St. Jerome Institute for HS in DC. Both are Catholic and classical education (The trivium consists of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, while the quadrivium consists of arithmetic, astronomy, music, and geometry). Maybe St. Mary's in Upper Marlboro or Cardinal Hickey Academy in Owings (Calvert County has far better public school options than PG). To be blunt - certainly for education - you should consider moving to another county if you are forced into the public schools. Good luck!

- Near the NE DC border: St. Anselm's (all boys, has a bus route) and Edmund Burke (further away, but on top of the metro and has a bus), both are 6th-12th
- Closer to University of Maryland: Friends Community School (K-8)
- Near Largo area: maybe Capitol Hill Day School? (K-8)
- Further south near Oxon Hill: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (have a friend who does this commute, K-12th), Browne or Alexandria Day School (both K-8)
