My child has been bullied repeatedly this year, and there has been no communication between the administration and my family. I also don't get the best feedback from other parents that have had the same issue. Now I hear that some teachers are leaving that I was looking forward to having finally!
I would kindly and with caution warn you: You truly no idea how good you have it. Of the six MCPS principals I've experienced (at Somerset, Chevy Chase, Westland, and BCC) Serino is by far the best. Her departure from Westland was a HUGE loss. Unkindness, bullying, and everything in between are huge problems EVERYWHERE right now. My true advice for you is that if you are concerned about this issue you should set up a meeting with her and also volunteer to help make things better--the schools are truly lacking partners in parents right now and if you offer to be part of the solution I can say from experience that you will find a willing partner in Serino.
