Wear dark colors. The French prefer navy. Nothing garish or bright and dark shoes - black, dark grey, navy.

You want to be a tasteful part of Paris not stand out like a pig's ear.

You have no idea what current fashion trends are. Go back to 1989.

Oh, the joys of the school summer vacation. Guess what kiddo - we wear what we like.

Seriously, this is my response to about 70% of what’s posted on DCUM.

20 years ago Paris was cool/cold in June. That is no longer the norm with global warming.

You just made all of this up.

DP- Just got back from Paris and it was chilly. I don’t know what the recent average highs are for early June but it was definitely not warm .

Oh, and just about everyone was wearing sneakers. Just not super clunky athletic shoes .

Have not seen sandals.

I'm not going to Paris aside from a few hours after landing, going to see family in a small town. Just wondering about practical not totally awful choices for the weather which is going to suck a bit! So far planning on Converse mid tops, New Balance neutral sneakers and a pair of flats.

Poster in Paris - I have seen all of these plus an abundance of Addidas samba.

Why do they have to be white?

NP. They do not need to be white. Wear what ever goes with your outfit. I wore grey sneakers the last time. Paris is cosmopolitan like NYC. No one will care, you will still look like a tourist anyways.

They used to say sneakers made Americans stand out. My in-laws are French living in France. Last year when we were there, all they wore were sneakers.

Everyone all over Europe is wearing sneakers. Only those above 75 seem to shy away from them.

Seconding this. You're going to want to walk a lot, prioritize walkability.
