The difference b/t then and now is that House and Senate were under Democratic control. IDK what will happen with a split legislature. I lack confidence in the House GOP to make the right calls.

Honestly, Biden's numbers are not good so my husband and I are reluctantly preparing for a Trump win. I don't think there will be any violence but we're months away.

What are you going to do after crossing into Canada, exactly? Apply for asylum?

Think through this, OP.
What would your kids do? Where would they go? What is your plan? What would be the "trigger" to instruct them to put these plans into place?

Duh. We had a plan when we were all in the same city and now I am exploring a plan for a threat from within, especially now that they are in college.

Thanks for responding. Concur with you. It is troubling to see so many on autopilot.

For the last part, I didn't say passport, I said passport card. And I didn't say anywhere but I indicated to Canada (can travel over land with the card into Canada) and that might not even be a bet by the time I was able to get there. I spent a large portion of my professional career working with refugees so am fairly familiar with how this process works. Trudeau might leave the border open for folks with docs or he could shut it all down the moment Trump attempted to deploy the National Guard around the States.
