My son played this game with all the other seniors a couple of years ago when he graduated from high school. I thought it was dumb but it was just a game of tag with water guns. my son and most of his friends had water guns that looked like water guns, so they would not be confused with the real weapon. he had a white plastic oversized water gun.
The game at our HS had the same rules as this poster's where they could not go after their target if they were in a car or driving or in school grounds or a number of other things. I think they also were not allowed to lurk outside of people's houses. My kid went to Wootton and it seemed like most all of the seniors played it. My daughter graduated a couple years later and she opted out of the game -- it was still a tradition with the seniors.

Agree it’s insane the father shot a child! Very glad he’s no longer a danger to society.

Playing with water guns with friends as pool/backyard activity I take no issue with. Randomly accosting people with water guns (or water balloons or any other form of spontaneous mess) while they’re shopping is absolutely rude and shouldn’t be encouraged, although making it illegal seems over the top to me.

to some extent, if the father was a CCW holder and was carrying and when someone pointed a gun at him or his daughter and he reacted by shooting. I could understand the fathers reaction. and while tragic, its a FAFO moment that the teen would not ever forget.

The fact that the father after being told chased these kids down. and shot them. premeditated. He knowingly came to the walmart with a gun with the intent to do harm.

Kansas still has the needle. would love to see it used. Doubt it will happen though. ill bet the most he serves is 15 years.

Hope the daughter is happy, she played a game and didn't like the outcome and cried to dad.

Playing fake-gun games in public is an invitation to get shot by a real gun. Guns are not toys.

I bet the teens were rude to him, which sent him further into a rage. Not excusing his actions, nothing could, but I bet they were not respectful or apologetic. Kids are out of control these days, do not know how to act. Parents, do your job!

The father is mentally unstable and I hope he goes to prison for many years.

I also hope this stupid game stops, and that the kid isn't paralyzed.

+1 The paralyzed kid wasn't doing anything egregiously wrong. And even if he was, he doesn't deserve to have no feeling from the waste down because some psycho dad was allowed access to a gun.

Seniors at a school in dc tried to play and administration put a stop to it. You just cannot joke about shooting people or use water guns in this climate without something potentially tragic happening.

+1 We've had teens do this in our area when elderly people are walking, people driving cars, folks walking their dogs,etc. Causes wrecks and causes some to fall down and dogs dart away. Then teens drive off laughing. It's not funny at all.

Those same, lenient parents are the first to try to get a lesser punishment or no consequence at all.
