It is not NL, becoming M&D is not going to change anything.
For a rising 4th grader, I’d say the opposite. Get on a team with coaches that know how to develop players.
Really not clear if NL is going to improve with MnD collaboration.
MCE has its issues as noted above. It’s not clear how or if they plan to make improvements.
DC area is quickly becoming a disappointment for girls lax community.

Agree that overall outlook is TBD, but this is primarily a discussion of 33 tryouts and MCE vs NL. As previous posters noted, a very obvious choice for any MD / NW DC player not on BLC Blue. And like most tryout cycles, would expect to even see 1-2 BLC Blue players come out for M&D…

Many Moco girls are headinh over American Legion bridge these days to St. James (Stars) program. Extremely organized and well run. Good Coaches too.

My daughter is a 2027 and has always played MCE, made varsity as a freshmen. Girls played great at LLL. BTW, she did not even tryout for Capital.Anonymous wrote:I would definitely stay away from MCE. If your DD loves lax and wants to grow in the sport, MCE is not worth your time. It’s true that 3-Step (parent company of M&D) just bought NL, so it may be a good option. Pride may be worth looking into if you want more options. Their teams play in the NGLL, but one downside is their club fees are probably the highest of all the clubs

Also, I can speak firsthand that several years ago a coach from MC openly told NL parents that NL was disbanding their program altogether. Just call or email directors.

Just looked up the NL 2026 team and they played tournaments last weekend and this weekend. Not sure how that’s consistent with this claim that NL disbanded their HS teams.

Do Stars have a 2033 team? It doesn't appear that there were Stars teams in the NGLL for either the 2033s or the 2032s. The three teams listed above do play in the NGLL at these ages, though MC Elite loses badly in every age bracket including 2033.
