The Gifted Ed committee just did a presentation on MS English last week covering the novel studies.

Reading graphic novels in HS English? Why? Who advocated for THAT???

Why do people come in here without educating themselves. Who said that the Gifted Ed committee advocated for reading graphic novels? And, even if they did advocate for that graphic novels have a place in HS English.

I havent seen a draft of the priorities yet. If you are a delegate you will get a draft and be able to vote on it and proposed amendments.

Did they celebrate adoption of the budget? That seems weird and unnecessary.

The rally was Monday.

MCCPTA does a lot, but just like anything else, it’s entirely run by volunteers. Delegates are either selected by the local PTA board or elected by local membership, depending on the bylaws. Each school can have 2 delegates. Maybe volunteer if you are interested in doing more. The committees are pretty active, particularly gifted Ed and curriculum. As an organization, MCCPTA can testify if the full DA has voted on an advocacy position. That means the DA has to discuss something, delegates bring it back to their schools for discussion, and then the DA takes a vote. That makes it difficult to take a position on quick moving items.

Eh, sort of. But I agree that MCCPTA often lobbies for policies that will harm most or all students.

Quite the accusation. Examples and sources?

Yes please, examples.

Yes. And if you are not a member of MCCPTA, you can attend it too. It's a public meeting.

I'm a delegate and no -- why would I?
