I did buy a nicer coffee cup so I can bring my coffee more often instead of stopping at starbucks. And have been making starbucks copycat muffins for my teen.

I agree with the PP that I'm just eating out less often as the value just isn't there. For fancy food, you can buy great steak or mussels for SO much cheaper than at a restaurant, and they are so easy to make. (Tuna and salmon are pretty expensive even to buy so not as huge a savings.) The only place where I still see the value in going out to eat is Mexican food or some Asian foods -- depending on the dish, but those are often harder to make, and generally require more time and more ingredients and/or equipment that I don't have.

I think you're joking but I do make my own liver pate from the liver shoved inside the whole chickens we get for roasting. It honestly takes like 5 minutes to make $10 worth of pate. I saute the liver with some onions, butter, garlic, tarragon and white wine, then throw it into the cuisinart mini prep for a few seconds.

No but if I had more time, it would probably be yogurt and marinara sauce. Although with the price of canned tomatoes, marinara sauce might not be a huge savings.

We never ate out super often, but have cut back even more. The prices are absolutely crazy. Nearly anything homemade is cheaper and usually healthier also.

I always cooked/baked from scratch. Things just taste fresher when you do scratch.

We buy nice groceries. Ou real savings came from not going to eat out.

There is no way making pizza dough is more cost effective than buying a doughball. Even if you are unemployed, there are better things to spend time cooking than pizza dough, which is $2.00 at Trader Joe's and little more at the grocery.

I'm not making my own cereal, but we've stopped buying it because of inflation. Now I just make quaker oats in a pot on the stove or have greek yogurt (store bought) or eggs (also, store bought).

I used to throw expired milk away but now make yogurt in my Instant Pot not just because of inflation but also my Safeway keeps running out of Greek yogurt.
