I have done this once with a very good friend who expressed a lot of concern about their kid and vaping. So it wasn’t a “correction.” In every other instance, I let the rest of it go. As PP said, my relationship with my child is paramount.

Depends on how severe the behavior is. At DD's school there was a middle schooler engaged in some risky behavior that other teens noticed and told their parents about. The parents of the other kids knew the girl's parent as an acquaintance but didn't say anything about it. Bad stuff happened later as a consequence to the girl, which could really have been prevented if her parents had been more aware. I know it's not the other parents' fault, but I do wish they had said something. I'm sure the other parents would do things differently if they had the chance to do it over.
I'd ssay for mostly harmless typical teen stuff I would not say anything. Using social media counts as one of these typical teenage things. For things like meeting strangers on the internet, drugs, sexting, going places where underage kids don't belong, etc. I would say something even if it is difficult.

Alone, I might say it's important to check if they're sneaking social media accounts. If they were posting something concerning I would not hesitate to inform a friend.

Yes, I marvel at it as well. I've been lectured before by parents about social media and meanwhile I know their kid is on social media.
