You know what, I agree with Op and I wear athleisure wear practically everywhere. We need to bring proper modesty back, time and place. If I would not dress like that in an office or social setting I'm sure not going to dress like that in a grocery store. Slapping a jacket on when going into the store is not a huge deal and I do it every time. These people are exhibitionists who just want attention and sadly they get it but they also get laughed at a lot.

I assume they are desperate for attention. You don’t have a shirt or hoodie you can throw over yourself? Would you come to my house for dinner wearing this? How about fly on an airplane? Wear this to your kids school? No, because it would be inappropriate.

We all acknowledge wearing clothing is expected by society. We don’t wear bikinis to the grocery store. But these “workout” outfits are just as revealing.

Quit going into public settings half naked. It's not trendy, it's wildly inappropriate.

I only do a double take when it's flesh colored. And a lot of these do seem to be flesh colored so people look nude at first glance.

Getting attention is probably a big part of the reason why someone would go to the grocery store almost naked. So I don't understand the problem if a passerby shares their reaction.

I commented this on the swimsuit thread and will again here: I’m so glad I left the dc area.

I used to teach workout classes where I generally wore a longline sports bra and exercise shorts. Sometimes I'd run to the grocery store across the street (gasp Whole Foods) to grab lunch when I didn't have time to pack one or just to pick up a few grocery items on a break between classes.

I was dressed in the same clothes I might wear to go for a run in the same neighborhood or to take my kid to the park on a very hot day. It never occurred to me to "cover up" to spare the DCUM gossips from seeing my thighs or a hint of cleavage or sliver of my torso. If it was cold out I might thrown on sweats but if it was cold out I likely would have been wearing leggings anyway.

This is such a dumb thing to get worked up about.

And they all drive blacked out SUVs or white SUVs with black wheels. And they're always on Facetime while walking into Whole Foods. It's a whole production.
