It’s not that weight is such a huge deal. The friend was making a dig at DD, and in a public forum, and in the context of celebrating DD’s accomplishments. It’s not about weight, it’s about trying to diminish DD and doing so publicly.

I consider myself to be a pretty polite and chill person but a woman once made a rude comment to me about my child who had just had a seizure in public and she interpreted his behavior as a tantrum. I’m a large woman, and was inches from her face screaming within about 2 seconds. She was terrified and immediately apologized and cried. I’m not proud of what I did exactly, but there’s something primal that gets triggered in us when our kids are attacked.

I love your DH for going all Papa Bear for your DD.



I would have been mortified if my mother had done that when I had a seizure.

Exactly. He was fine with Dave's cheating until Dave wronged him personally. He could have gone about this a million different ways that would also stand up for his daughter but he chose to blow up someone's marriage publically. I don't see much virtue in that. Also, do we know for sure that Dave called her fat or just wanted to say that the food at USC is great?

There is brown fat (baby fat) and white fat. Brown fat is a healthy type of fat that is actually darker in color. Once thought to only exist in babies, researchers now believe adults have it too.
