Yes. I gained 20 pounds after starting an SSRI many years ago. Have never been able to get rid of it.

It frustrates me to no end that my psychiatrist didn’t tell me that might happen.

Why be afraid of that? I’m not afraid I’ll use my glasses or my allergy medicine forever. Though to be honest, I never took the highest dose and take .5 (the 2nd smallest dose, of 5 possible doses) every 2 weeks. I’m fine if I take that for a long time

Exactly. I’m on Mounjaro and have no plans to stop. Down the line it may be a different med or different schedule but I’m cool with being on something for the rest of my life.

100% agree. It’s better than being on diabetes and high blood pressure meds for the rest of my life.

Same. I gained major weight after starting an SSRI. But the SSRI helped me get in the frame of mind to start taking care of myself. I cut out sugar - all of it. No more alcohol. I track calories and do resistance training and brisk walking for 30 minutes three times a week and try to do a long walk on the other days. So far it's been 7 months, and I've lost 20 pounds. It's a very very slow process. My advice is to STOP weighing yourself and make slow incremental changes. You may also need HRT sooner than you think.
