Subject: Brand name estrogen only patches?
I’ve been using Vivelle-Dot for over a decade and all of a sudden it became unavailable. It was more affordable when I was using my work insurance but after retiring and going on Medicare none of the supplemental insurance pay for it. I’ve been paying the high price for a while because it works for me. In the past I’ve tried the generics but they didn’t work for me at all. Probably due the length of time and dosage of the Vivelle. Plus I use it because I had a hysterectomy. This January I tried to order it from my usual pharmacy and they said it was on back order until April. Luckily I had several boxes to spare. In April still no Vivelle. I called the manufacturer which has been Sandoz for the last couple years. They were very vague like they really didn’t have any answers and said it had another back order date of October!!!! It used to be manufactured by Narvatis. When Sandoz started being the manufacturer that’s when the trouble started. In my area no pharmacy had it. Usually in my area they don’t keep the brand in stack and would always just order it for me. I also did some searching and read that Vivelle was discontinued in 2023. So they have probably just used all the inventory by now. But no discussion or indication that this was happening so patients could prepare. I have adverse effects when if I don’t use it so don’t know what to do. Actually the last box I’m using now has expired but I had to use them but they aren’t working well at all.
Please post if anyone has an update.

I put it on right after my shower in the morning and wear shorts or underwear until it dries.

I use Sandoz, which has worked fine and I haven't had any trouble getting it. No skin irritation and it stays on but I put this patch over it just in case:
