That just isn't true. Plenty of women have DOR at 35. Age does not matter.

It's the quality of your eggs that matter most. I only got 3 eggs, but got identical twins. I was older too. I used donor sperm. Do not worry as much with the numbers of eggs.

What trigger did you have?
My first collection was a Lupron trigger and it was disappointing compared to my AFC. There were fewer collected than expected by ultrasound and 1/3 were immature and not salvageable.
The second time, I had an Ovidrel trigger and the collection was great! There were 15 eggs and every single one was mature.

I am now also considering the Assure Fertility program - "Assure 20: People with a favorable ovarian reserve and the ability to freeze eggs by age 41 can complete up to 4 egg freezing cycles or reach 20 mature eggs, whichever comes first. Should a patient reach 20 mature eggs or wish to discontinue egg freezing cycles following their first cycle, we’ll issue a partial refund."
It seems like a viable option for someone with low egg counts. Does anyone have experience with these programs in Shady Grove or Virginia Fertility?

P.S. My suggestion is to go to Czech Republic for two weeks and do it there. You could look into Greece too. It’s considerably less even with airfare and hotel. Might as well have a vacation!

By this math, you spent $10,700 for your egg retrieval at Washington Fertility. This sounds a lot more in the ballpark than $8k and I suggest you use this as your comparison number. Also, what did your RE at Washington Fertility say say about your empty follicle syndrome? I doubt it was staying up past midnight that caused this - did they say another round would be worth it? For a 90% chance of a live birth, they suggest you freeze 40 eggs before 30 so you really ought to at least make embryos with donor sperm if you are harvesting this few of eggs in my opinion. Don't throw good money after bad.
So, I am Asian by ethnicity. The doctor said that Asian women, on average, have lower egg counts compared to most other races. I am not sure if that is true or not, but I was reading personal experiences of women in Asia (for example in Japan) and there did seem to be many women who had 4~10 eggs on their first try.
Washington Fertility did say I should do another or two other rounds. They will say that, it's money for them, but their price point is too high for me.
The 8K I mentioned didn't include the cost of drugs. I have a significant volume of drugs left over from my first cycle so I can use those to halve the cost of drugs on the second round.
On some level psychologically I was still hoping to use a future husband's sperm but now that you put it that way, I think I will look into making embryos.
Honestly, that is a good option. This really is a predatory industry. I am sorry to hear that your first cycle yielded so few eggs and wish you best of luck in building your family.

You really need to be educated about this whole process, OP. If you use donor eggs, the child will not have your DNA at all because the eggs would come from another woman.

My kids do not have my DNA but there is good evidence that epigenetics are influenced by the experience in the womb. It determines which genes are turned on or turned off. Truthfully, I am not all that concerned about this connection. I carried them, gave birth to them, breastfed them, and, most importantly, have parented them every day for more than a decade. They are absolutely amazing. They have picked up many of my mannerisms and I think it would be hard to tell that we are not genetically related at this point.

You can use CFA for monitoring. If you really don’t want to travel then just use CFA for everything. I’ve done it both ways and each was fine.
You are right- I think the first time doctors have no idea what drugs work the best. I would need to make sure the drugs are adjusted the second time based on results from the first time.
I am trying to read up on experiences where the second cycle yielded much better results than the first after the drugs were adjusted. Otherwise I find I lose motivation.
