Option #3: "Wheaton would be slightly above 100% of capacity."

Option #4: "Wheaton [...] would be at about 120% [of capacity]."

It's not. It's sociopathic.

It’s ok as it’s a less wealthy area and the goal is to fix the wealthy areas. Dcc needs another school or two.

I think families are also pushing Wheaton for the advantage of the upper level classes. We were refused a cosa so it surprises me. They should distribute them to other schools and offer equal classes.

By the way, they will say they can "just" add more space in Edison next door. Gmafb. They do not have the money for this.

Wheaton High School in Wheaton, MD has a build capacity for a maximum enrollment of 2,340 students.

As of the 2022–2023 school year, the official enrollment was 2,599 students, which exceeds the school's intended capacity.

According to a testimony presented to the Montgomery County Board of Education, the school is experiencing a "severe lack of space" because its current enrollment is about 260 students over its designed capacity of 2,340.
The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) official school profile confirms the enrollment numbers and notes the ongoing issue of overcapacity.

The capacity figure of 2,340 is based on the school's most recent construction and planning documents, with the expectation that this limit would not be reached until 2030. However, rapid population growth in the area led to the capacity being exceeded much sooner.

There's none. Classes will continue to be large and maybe if you're lucky they'll put some portable classroom trailers in the parking lot. Unfortunately, there's not much space in the Wheaton lot.

Yes but the problem is that Northwood is using the Woodward building for three years during construction. That is not desirable for a lot of DCC families. It is a longer bus ride and the sports situation is bad for the first year as Woodward is still under construction. I think the County wants to grant the COSAs where possible because of the inconvenience.

Yes, but "where possible" should be Kennedy or other schools with seats available.

In 2027 (we hope). Until then, we're SOL.

Overcrowding (capacity) is the # 3 or 4 factor of the boundary policy.

LOL!

And has been for many years! Yet we will wait two additional years while Northwood uses the school.

Three additional years!
