We were advicsed that over 700 in each should be admitted everywhere. Keep in mind that the ranges you are seeing are fake due to TO, so assume the entire percentage of kid who did not submit were below the posted 25th of the prior year. Look back to 2019 for the true range.

Maryland, Penn State, Pitt would likely be admits. Maybe Wisconsin or Georgia (Georgia really values GPA over test scores) and Clemson. BU has really bought into the whole early decision game and would not be likely in RD.

Agree with this. Also, as more students submit SATs, the medians will come down a bit.

If mental health is paramount, why apply to colleges with such low and unlikely admittance rates? It doesn’t add up. His score is very good and he will be a strong candidates for many colleges. Of those you listed, pick one and ED, but then make sure your list has other colleges he loves.

Pick an ED2 as well if possible. Make sure that your son has targets and safeties he likes, the schools you name are long shits with the stats and activities you describe.

Also, do you have naviance? At my kids’ good public HS, the profile you describe would have next to no chance at BC, absent special circumstances. Your school may be different, but I think they take a lot from Catholic HS, making it harder than you might expect from public school (ours anyway). Anyway, we found naviance very helpful as a guide.

I wouldn’t submit at any school where 40% of admitted class was admitted without scores.

I believe Emory likes scores.

WashU is something for your kid to consider esp ED.

A university's average score is going to go down with the class of 2025 (and definitely by 2026).

1)Digital SAT (math) is a harder test on the high end. Very few kids are getting scores above the low 1500s. The class of 2025 will have some kids who took the paper test in the fall but many will only have digital results.

2)More colleges are requiring testing. This alone will bring down scores.
