The vegan boca burger is really good. And then you are covered if any of your guests are vegan. I also like most of the Garden burger varieties. I think the black bean one is pretty popular.

I think the key is avoiding the ones that are designed to taste like meat.

These are the best if you’re making them yourself. I’m a meat eater and love them.

Another vote for Morningstar Farms spicy black bean burgers. My mainstay for many years now! Trader Joe’s has a few ok varieties but can fall apart easily.

Boca All-American are popular but not vegan. They have cheese inside.

There is also a vegan Boca burger, which I like.

I've been veggie for 30 years and I love the fake meat ones. I also the flavor of the tjs masala ones and morningstar farms, but I feel weird eating them on a bun. It's like carbs stuck between carbs (I'm not into counting carbs. I can just feel a lack of protein when I eat them). I like the flavor of black bean burgers but never eat them bc they tend to be mushy and beans give me hella gas.

I also like Pioneer Woman's black bean burger recipe (hard to grill though, better to pan fry).

I'd probably have a box of Morningstar bbs and some Impossible patties: people like different things.

I like those spicy black bean burgers too. They are good for a quick meal.

Agree, these are good, and I'm not a vegetarian

+1 for the Morningstar spicy black bean (also not vegetarian, they're just easy and tasty).

Kenji's black bean burgers on the Serious Eats site are really good.
For storebought ones I like the potato masala ones from Trader Joe's.
Another option for vegetarians at a barbecue is to grill some halloumi and have really good vegetarian sides, salads and condiments. It's great on a bun with fixings, or on its own for the non burger lovers. I'm a lifelong vegetarian who loves burgers - as long as the buns are good! If they look like the usual sad mushy supermarket kind I usually skip.

Agree with all of this but I'm also not a picky veggie burger eater and would accept both options.

The black bean burgers they sell at Costco are pretty good. Chipotle flavor, I think.

I also like a veggie burger where you see bits of plants. A while ago at a BBQ I had one with that lots of mushrooms and maybe barley or another chewy grain. Anyone know that one?

I am a vegetarian and love veggie burgers. I do not eat any fake meat. My favorite ones are from Trader Joes- they have at least
2-4 varieties at any given time. Some are potato and veggies, some are lentil and quinoa or bean based. However, the best veggie burgers are the ones you can make at home ( in advance). To save time, I use canned beans, boiled potatoes and frozen veggies ( that I microwave and then sauté for few mins)- mash the mix, season and add some EVOO - coat it with breadcrumbs ( optional). Refrigerate or freeze and then throw them on the grill when ready to eat. We have also tried beet and lentil/bean burgers- they are yumm, if you like beets ( and we use canned beets to save time).

We don't eat a lot of meat and my teen athlete likes them too. I double-stack them for 18 g of protein instead of 9 (there's more protein elsewhere in the meal, but that's not bad for a veggie burger).

It's not a typical "burger", but Trader Joe's Masala Burger is really quite good.
