I'd just do a dose right before you leave and right when you get back. When I had a med shortage issue awhile back, I stretched out the time between doses to 2 weeks with no problems.

But I also suspect you would be fine carrying it on. I would worry too, but realistically lots of people are on injectable meds and they have to let them through.

I’ve flown overseas with it. NOT an issue. I put mine in an empty hydroflask to help with temperature control. And tore the top of the box with the label and my name and prescribing info in case ai was questioned. I was not— either by TSA and clearing customs. 10-15 years ago I flew with injectable Imitrex for migraines several times a year, over a period of about 5 years. Domestic and international. Again, new even questioned. A lot of people fly with injectible meds. Not an issue. I would carry a copy of the prescription, or the label from the box and not just the pens, just in case. But, TSA knows how to deal with common meds.

Ozempic’s been on the market since 2017. This class of drugs is not new or experimental.

OP--I don't think anyone can answer your question about timing because we all have different experiences. I don't feel any nausea after about day 1 or 2 after the shot so for me, I could just make sure I take the dose 2-3 days before leaving. It sounds like you're in a different situation. So any advice you get here may not apply to you.

I do want to endorse your idea, though. I'm planning to do the same thing (like a PP, more for convenience while traveling). My doctor said her recommendation during maintenance is to go off entirely until once you hit your target weight, and then when you see yourself picking up weight--specifically, when you hit a certain BMI-- starting again for a week or two. That's different from what you're suggesting, but it's the same idea-- of going off and then back on not hurting anything.

(Of course, this is all a big experiment right now... the drug is too new to have any data to base recommendations on.)
